Overview
Savannah & Mid-island, Grand Cayman
Prices further east of George Town are lower than Seven Mile Beach or South Sound and, as such, afford people more choice when it comes to buying a home. There is a great range of beautiful family homes available in Savannah and mid-island, giving homeowners the space in which to stretch out, relax and enjoy their home. Anyone contemplating buying land and building their home themselves will find some well-priced plots at this location, at places such as Savannah Meadows and even beachfront plots at Beach Bay.
The area is richly fertile and benefits from a deep red soil that is particularly prized by gardeners. The location houses Cayman’s Agricultural Grounds and plenty of nurseries offering a superb supply of plants for avid gardeners. Pedro St James, one of Cayman’s oldest National Historic Sites, lies majestically overlooking the dramatic shoreline in this area, a stunning replication of a traditional Great House that has been built from the ruins of the 18th Century original property. This is a lovely spot for weddings and other gatherings, set in lush gardens and overlooking the glinting ocean.
Countryside Shopping Village has developed into a central hub for this community, with grocery, liquor, DIY and telecoms stores, a pharmacy and much more besides servicing residents. There’s a good selection of fast food and takeaway restaurants, while a popular café, Café del Sol and casual dining restaurant, Cimboco, have created an even greater community feel to this delightful area.
