Overview
Little Cayman
Little Cayman exudes a unique peacefulness that you would be hard-pushed to find anywhere else in the world. With just a handful of full-time residents who are lucky enough to call the island home, Little Cayman offers a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Cayman Airways operates regular daily flights from Grand Cayman and from Cayman Brac. Step onto the Edward Bodden Airport’s grassy landing strip, and you know you're home.
Beaches at Little Cayman Beach Resort and the Southern Cross Club are what dreams are made of, with soft, powder-white sand that’s gently lapped by the mesmerising ocean. Find a hammock and enjoy the stillness. A big draw for visitors are the magnificent dive sites that dot the perimeter of the island and which are rated some of the best in the world. The dramatic Bloody Bay Wall is up there with the best, offering a dazzling array of colourful marine life to observe and marvel at, all to be found at this sheer wall of coral. It’s drop off begins at about 18ft and goes all the way down to 100ft, a unique diving experience.
Lack of development means Little Cayman is a great place to observe nature, especially birds, which migrate to its Booby Pond Nature Reserve, an important breeding spot for the Red-Footed Booby bird that stretches over hundreds of acres and has been recognised as a Wetland of International Significance by the Ramsar Convention.
As you would expect, available property is sparse, although there are a handful of spectacular oceanfront homes. However, there is a good selection of land lots available, with oceanfront lots commanding higher prices yet there are some very reasonably priced inland lots that might tempt anyone looking to build their own piece of paradise for themselves.
